GEORGIA COUNTY GETS QUICK START ON WINDOWS SERVER 2003, EXCHANGE 2003, AND ACTIVE DIRECTORYASD’s Challenge: Georgia's Columbia County was ready for an upgrade of its networking and messaging infrastructure. Given its 290 square miles and over 100,000 residents, the County’s Management Services Department depends on effectively delivered IT services for providing critical support services to both county employees and citizens. The existing Novell server and messaging platforms and desktops were approaching obsolescence, inefficient to manage, and lacking in needed performance, reliability, and security. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) was higher that it should be, given the incongruent technologies and low degree of integration in cross-platform processes. Finding itself at a strategic technical juncture, the County was interested in modernizing its server, network management, and messaging platforms, as well as its desktops, with state-of-the-art Microsoft products. |
